This is my first official nod of appreciation. Many thanks to Jess at Simply Jess for the nomination! She’s a stay-at-home mom of a little boy who has opted to home school. She writes about her adventures in life and love and how to live fun & frugally along the way. I hope she doesn’t mind my interpretation of her writing style . . .
So again, being nominated for the Liebster Award is an honor. And it’s a generous way to discover new blogs; to gain new readers.

Give them 11 questions of your own to answer
These are the eleven questions Jess at Simply Jess, gave me to answer:
How long have you been blogging?
Since the Summer of 2013. But due to family circumstances, I was not able to write a post regularly. It’s only been in the last 6 months or so that I’ve been able to write a post on a regular basis. For me that translates into 1 post a week. That is the only way I can maintain a semblance of balance in my life raising two pre-schoolers, home-schooling, living with chronic illness, and maintaining a connection with my husband.
What is your inspiration for your blog?
Frankly, I’m a compulsive researcher yet I get frustrated by going to multiple sites to gather information that I wish I could find in one place. I attempt to overcome information overload by writing detailed yet concise articles that involve parenting, homeschooling, health, home, marriage, and little bit of everything else.
What do you enjoy most about blogging?
I love to write, in every form. I’ve also discovered that I enjoy the design aspect of putting an article together.
What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
Read, listen to music, and have impromptu dance parties with my girls. I also like to hike as my health permits. I used to enjoy horseback riding; unfortunately, I can’t manage it any longer.
How do you enjoy time that you have to yourself?
Time to myself? What is this time to yourself you speak of? Kidding! I get up earlier than the rest of the family and I drink a cup of coffee or two while I read. I want to get an iPod (yes, I’m one of the few people on the planet that doesn’t have one 🙂 ) so I can enjoy walks in the morning too. And I usually take a half-hour in the evening after the kids are in bed, to decompress; I watch TV or get inspired from Pinterest or Houzz.
What is your favorite food?
Is chocolate a food? If so, anything chocolate. Otherwise, mexican. I’ve lived in Texas and California; each state has it’s own version of mexican food. I like both. Oh, and Cincinnati chili can’t be beat!
What kind of music do you like?
I love music. My only requirement is that it has a good melody, from there its open. I listen to it all, from opera to country to pop to rock, and everything in between!
What is your favorite household “duty?”
I’m no domestic goddess. Sorry, but I have to call it as I see it. I’d soo like to have a personal chef, and housekeeper. In turn though, I’d personally not accept a nanny. I want the joy of being with my children throughout the day. In fact, I’d choose changing dirty diapers all day over household chores. If I have to pick a household “duty” I’d go a little further afield than the house and say grocery shopping is my favorite.
Where would your ideal vacation be?
Ireland. My hubby knows I’d pawn just about anything (other than my wedding ring, and my children), to raise money to travel there if I could.
What is your favorite tv show?
We decided in an effort to reduce expenses, to cut cable. So I’m limited to my Roku – but right now, “Nashville” is my guilty pleasure. And yes, I’ve fallen under the spell of “Downton Abbey” too.
What is your hobby?
I wish I could say crochet or something crafty. The most crafty I get is home decor. I enjoy the creative process of decorating a home, whether my own on a friend’s. Beyond that, I’m addicted to reading and writing. I’ve been writing poems, song lyrics, stories and more since I was knee-high to a grass hopper.
